It was the best of Cups and the coldest of Cups. The early start was delayed by a frost, but the wind laid down and we had a beautifully memorable round together.
Everyone took at least one hole, and 8 of the 18 were halved with some exciting shots including chip-ins and long putts. On the back nine EJ closed with a magnificent birdie on 14, then survived to win 15 and tie Jordan at three holes won. So a three hole putt-off was held at the practice green for lowest total strokes, and Jordan held steady to capture his third Cup in five years.
It was an absolutely stunning day as we started in mittens and toboggan caps and ended in shirt sleeves! The Sugartree contingent of Canadian Geese signaled our start as they performed their morning fly-over at the first tee. Another beautiful flock of Nader spouses and granddaughters greeted us at the turn. Everyone’s “dogs were barking” as we completed our morning walk in the park. There was plenty of talk about next year’s handicaps, which will most certainly be adjusted!
