The Peach Festival and Country Churches

The Peach Festival was held in Weatherford this month. They say this is the best peach crop in years. The festival was fun - lots of bands, homemade peach ice cream, booths with all kinds of wares to sell (my personal favorite: suspenders for "all gutt and no butt"!), and lots of people sweating in the hot sun! We enjoyed being with our friends Virginia and Dale, who live "down the road" abit.

We have been worshipping in different places this summer. James is taking a rest from teaching our Sunday School class. We miss our sweet fellowship with New Hopers but have enjoyed visiting some different places. Last Sunday, we worshipped at Bethel UMC and met up with our friend/minister Katie (who knows our sons through the ministry). Katie's sermon was based on the song by Rich Mullins, "The Screen Door" We had to stifle giggles when the woman walked in with her poodle and set him on his special pillow in the pew. As James said, there were 37 in worship, including the dog :)

We have had the opportunity to hear John preach at Ovilla UMC and we worshipped with the folks at Millsap UMC and Brock UMC. We continue to give thanks for the many people of God all over our state/country. When we visit the small churches and see the people praising God and loving each other, we are reminded of the love we share with all Christians.
