Chicken Fried Church Tour Post #3

That’s Dee (Denise Joseph) Tabner with me in her dining room at Dee’s Hometown Diner in Cool, Texas. Kay and I went to church at Holder’s Chapel UMC yesterday and stopped in for a Chicken Fried Steak. We were surprised to find Lebanese food on the back of the menu, so we ordered up some delicious baked kibbe with pine nut stuffing, grape leaves rolled with meat and rice and yogurt side, and spinach pies! She was out of stuffed squash, so we’ll have to go back. It wasn’t Rosa Lee’s, but it was pretty darn good out in the West Texas Wilderness!
Dee is originally from Youngstown, Ohio and migrated to Fort Worth about 20 years ago. She and her husband moved to Parker County 10 years ago and she reopened this roadhouse about 10 months ago. She’s open for lunch every day and evenings until 8PM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. She said she’d do a sampler for us if we give her notice. I think this calls for a gathering when “Cooler” weather hits.
