Chicken Fried Church Tour Post #4

The Rev. Jim Sanders held an Independence Day Gathering of God’s Herd in the Cowboy worship tradition yesterday morning at Millsap UMC. He brought in musician friends from FUMC in Fort Worth, led by Rev. Tom McDermott on guitar. There was a nice crowd gathered at nine AM in the Fellowship Hall for snacks and talk before the service at nine-thirty. I had a great visit with a woman, former post master in Mineral Wells, whose family was from the Dennis Community where we live now. She reminisced about the old Dennis/Buckner Methodist Church building and brush arbor, which is now sited in Fort Worth as Christ The King Episcopal Church.

Kay was sitting with grandchildren Sunday, so our string of diner visits has been broken. A fresh tomato and avocado sandwich had to stand in for CFS!

Kay was "Grammy in Residence" over the weekend to help Joseph and Mary Kathryn with the children while they attended wedding events prior to MK's sister Kristen's wedding.  Kay had a great time and was left to sit with J.J. while Lydia posed as the Flower Girl.  J.J. is at the precious age of 15 months.
