We have settled into life in the country: bright stars, loud crickets and cicadas, a skunk on our back porch steps that we gently and quietly asked to leave, deer meandering across the backyard, a 30 minute drive to the grocery store, and watching wildlife on the pond with ducks, snakes, turtles, geese, and nutrias. James has a 45 minute commute and leaves relunctantly every morning. Some mornings he has to work and I play golf - what a role-reversal for us!

Our friend Paula gave us a card with a quote by Mark Twain, regarding the house that he built in Hartford (pictured above). I have written the beautiful words in the border of this blog. His words amply describe the feeling we have each time we enter our home. I read the history of Mark Twain's house on the museum website - quite interesting. If you would like to see pictures and read the history of his house, here is the link http://www.marktwainhouse.org/thehouse/house.shtml.
There are a few short weeks left to enjoy the solitude of summer and then it is back to work for me! It is a rare rainy day today and the pond has taken on a new look...I will write more soon but I must get back to the porch!
